The Healing Rooms is an Alternative Therapy clinic in Bishopston on the Gloucester Road. It is situated above the Bristol Buddhist Centre and is managed in association with the Buddhist Centre. The clinic has a peaceful atmosphere and is an oasis of calm above the busy Gloucester Road. For more details, see The Healing Rooms website.

How to find The Healing Rooms

The Healing Rooms is located above the Bristol Buddhist Centre on the A38 Gloucester Road about 1.5 miles from the city centre.

From the city centre:

The Healing Rooms, Bristol, acupuncure is practised here, along with other alternative therapies
  • Follow the A38, Cheltenham Road,
  • passing under the Zetland railway arch.
  • Continue along Gloucester Road.
  • Pass the Berkeley Road/ Sommerville Road junction.
  • Pass Egerton Road on your left.
  • On your left you will see St Michaels Church hall.
  • The Bristol Buddhist Centre is the next building on your left.

Where to park

There is a single yellow line in front of the Buddhist Centre. You may park here after 6.30pm. There is plenty of free parking in the nearby side-streets. Turn left into Hatherley Road, then bear left until you find a free space.

Public transport

Buses 72-77, 98 and 99 stop nearby.

The clinic is reached via the outside stairs at the side of the Buddhist Centre. There is no reception in the clinic. You should climb the stairs and ring the bell and I, or another therapist, will answer the door.

The Observatory, Cotham, Bristol

4 Archfield Road, Cotham, Bristol BS6 6BE.

The Observatory is a small, professionally run, private clinic which offers complementary healthcare in comfortable, discreet surroundings. The clinic was founded in 1988 and offers a range of therapies, including acupuncture.

How to find The Observatory

From Whiteladies Road:

  • Turn into Tyndalls Park Road, which is next to the BBC building (note: when driving up Whiteladies Rd, there is no right-turn into Tyndalls Park Rd).
  • Continue till you arrive at the ‘T’ Junction.
  • Turn left and immediately right at the roundabout into Cotham Rd.
  • Continue to the next ‘T’ Junction (just after the zebra crossing).
  • Turn left.
  • Take the second left into Cotham Grove, which leads to Archfield Road.
  • The Observatory is No.4, on your left, next to Archfield Day Nursery.

From Cheltenham Road:

  • At the Redland railway arch roundabout, turn into Cotham Brow.
  • Take the sixth turning on the right, which is Cotham Grove.
  • This leads into Archfield Road.
  • The Observatory is No.4, on your left, next to Archfield Day Nursery.

 

At number 4, please use the basement entrance, rather than the front door to the house. The basement door is usually on the latch, just walk in and take a seat in the waiting area.

The David Lloyd Leisure Club, Ashton, Bristol

This is a members’ health and fitness club. However, the Health and Beauty centre within the club (where complementary therapies are practised) may be used by non-members as well as members.

The club is situated next to the Ashton Vale Park & Ride. There is ample free parking within the club.

How to find the club

From M4: exit at junction 19 (M32). Follow to the end of the M32, then:

  • Turn left at lights, staying in right lane (A38).
  • Take 2nd exit at roundabout onto York Road.
  • At next roundabout take 2nd exit and follow signs for the A370, bearing left as the road splits.
  • Get into the right lane (A370 for Weston), taking exit for the B3128 Long Ashton, Cleveland and Failand. We are on the left hand side before the park and ride.

From M5: Either follow signs for M4 and then M32 as above, or exit at junction 18:

  • Follow signs for Bristol zoo and stay on Maine Road (the portway), with river Avon on the right.
  • Follow signs for A370 & exit at B3128 Long Ashton, Cleveland and Failand, as above.
